Without Further Ado

The painting job in Becky's
room began as a very
frustrating job.
If it weren't overwhelming enough
to just shovel clean
her room out,
we had trouble with the first coat of paint.
We each tried, thinking maybe
we were doing something wrong.
This is how the first coat went on...

After much debate about whether or not to take the paint back to the store,
we elected to try using the second gallon for the
second coat.
My dear helper couldn't return the next day so it was left
to be to soldier on.
LUCKILY,
the second coat was much better to work with.

Here's the big reveal...

Nothing on the walls yet...
it always pains me to start that step,
and a few more touches here and there
but Becky is happy and that makes me happy
(well, that is, until which time she messes it up again)!

It will be a few days until I reveal
the bathroom.
Apparently, I am much better
at solo deconstruction
than I am with reconstruction.
At least that's what my body it telling me.
Patience is not one of my strong suits
(I do not like to rely on others for help)
but I must wait for assistance
to put the cabinets back up.
Or maybe once my
muscles heal,
I'll once again
find my independence. ha!

As a side note:  I've tried to keep up with all of you this week
but if I've missed you, I'm really sorry!

I think you did an awesome job!! The first coat is always a pain. You see on TV commercials that some special paint you don't need more than one coat, right? But it does NOT work that way!

You have a lot of work done and you and I are the same. I can really make a mess and a good one but then to put it all back together is a pain.:)
Love what you have done

Jill, this looks great. Red is always a tricky paint to work with and sometimes it takes MORE coats to match the color on label. Really nice....I wouldn't hang anything up yet;) You should enjoy the rights of parent pride before the posters go up. Nice work!

What a difference a second coat of paint makes, huh? It looks stunning to me.

I really like the color. It looks warm, rich and vibrant. Bet Becky loves it! Take a rest . . . there is always next week to finish it up. Find some happy leprechaun's and bag pipers and do a little jig tomorrow. The rest will feel good!

That is awesome, I think you're way too modest. It looks totally professional to me. Bet Becky is thrilled!

WOw... Looks great.
I know the feeling... we painted our walls burgandy....we had to give it 5 coats...then it was beautiful..but at first we were very depressed...we never thought it would ever look good...and it was a brand new house

Nice job Jill. I now how frustrating it can be to paint, especially alone. But now that it is all said and done, GREAT JOB. Like that color on the wall.
Get some rest and think about the bathroom next week. Hopefully you have another one that can be used.

Wow! Just lovely, but don't ya just hate to hang that first picture or whatever.

Looks nice Jill. I despise putting things on the wall after a fresh coat of paint, but eventually, things get hung.
