Catching Up

Good Morning!

I've decided I would try to catch up on a few lingering items today.  So hang on, it could be a bumpy ride.

1)  Sometime last week, or maybe the week before? (the mind is a terrible thing to waste) I made a post about wildflowers I have found in my yard.  I had one plant I could not identify.  Thanks for my trusty friend, Teresa, it has now been identified!

Here it is:

Solomon's Seal (polygonatum biflorum) is a medicinal herb that has diverse healing properties. It can be used as a herbal tincture (best use), salve, tea or supplement. As an alternative medicine, it gives relief, healing or mending to sports injuries and other acute injuries related to tendons, joints, ligaments, bones, bruises, connecting tissues, cartilage, osteoarthritis, etc. It also soothes and repairs gastrointestinal inflammation and injuries. It is effective for feminine issues, such as menstrual cramps, PMS, bleeding, and the like. Additionally, it is known to lower blood pressure, relieve dry coughs, and to increase concentration and mental clarity.

2)  Thank you everyone for all of your help regarding blogger.  Knock on wood, things seem to be back to normal.  I have cleared my cookies(thankfully, this time no calories had to be consumed by me) and history. That coupled with what I think are resolved issues with blogger, things seem to be working normally once again.

3)  I was asked this question "What is a thrift store?"  For those that don't know, a thrift store is pretty much a huge garage sale in a store.  You can find a lot of junk but lurking in between you can often find wonderful treasures!

As I mentioned the other day, I was taking a friend thrifting.  She was looking for things for her daughter's upcoming wedding.  I was looking for...well...I was just trying to help.

As we walked into the first of 4 thrift stores, we came upon an elderly lady that was profusely bleeding from her lower limb.  We thought it was her foot but later learned it was from her calve.  Apparently, something had fallen in the store, hit her leg and caused much bleeding.  It was very disturbing and we both were sure she'd need a trip to the hospital.  Much to our surprise (and disappointment), she went about shopping after the store clerk patched her up with some gauze and tape!  I pray she has no serious ramifications from her injury.

After settling down, we eyed the perfect item for the wedding!  A beautiful, white bird cage hanging from a stand.  My friend was elated and we knew we had struck pay dirt.  Many mason jars were purchased as they will light the night at the reception.

Here's what I found:

Cupid!  Get outta the way, you camera hog!

I am not sure what I will do with these
frames but I LOVE them!
They were less than
$3.00 for the lot.

No way was I passing up this little
vase.
Isn't it adorable?
I can't wait to
get some flowers into it.

And there you have it!  All caught up ( I think...well...I hope anyway)!

Have a wonderful day!

I have seen Solomons Seal but I never knew what it was called. And there's a folk dance called Solomon's Seal, I don't know why it has that name though! :)

Start drying some Solomon's Seal for me right away! I think I have every malady you listed. I think I have heard the name before but have never seen the flower. It's beautiful and reminds me a little bit of Lily of the Valley. My heliopsis from you is about to bloom. It's really tall again this year. Love the vase -- it's unusal in shape and color; and love the frames. I will be interested in seeing what you do with them.

I hope the elderly lady went to her doctor. I know lots of elderly folks take blood thinners and that could be the casue of all the blood abut they also need to be very careful about infections.

I love the green vase. I know it will be very pretty with some of your flowers in it.

I have varigated soloman's seal and I love it! It just makes me happy. I've posted a picture at least once over at my place. I, too, love the green vase. I love the thought of lights in mason jars to light the way, sounds very much like a "Mamma Mia" wedding atmosphere.....lovely!

Hi Jill, you found some neat things at the thrift store. I don't know of many thrift stores here, but we have flea markets and 1 resale shop that I love to go to. I love to browse around the flea markets. I do hope the elderly lady is okay. Take care. ~Cheryl
