A Funny Thing Happened...

on our moose hunt.
Yes, you read that right.
While on our girls weekend,
the four of us saddled up in the car
and headed to a known spot
to find moose.
It's a well kept secret my
friend Teresa knew
and graciously shared with us.

But wait,
a very funny thing did happen on our journey.
We were held captive!
By whom you ask?
Try by what instead?
Two Canada Geese!
That's what.

As we were slowly driving down a country road,
we oohed and ahhed at the baby goslings and their parents
on the side of the road.
We watched as the little ones scurried down the ditch
to  hide in the tall grass.
For a moment,
it looked as though the parents would join them.

But all of a sudden,
one of the parents appeared
before us on the road.

We slowed down even more to give
it a chance to safely return to it's family.

And then the other parent joined in.

OK, they're taking off now.

We almost have lift off!

Oh wait, they've landed again.

OK!  There they go!

Oops.  Guess not.

OK, there they go!
We finally have liftoff!

I have given you the condensed version of this story.
This went of for a good 15 minutes before they finally left us.
Up, down, up, down, up, down they went.
It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.
I can only assume they were trying to lead us away
from their young, much like a killdeer does.

Now,
I know you're all wondering if we ever did see a moose.
I'm happy to say, WE DID!
4 girls in a car and we found a moose!

Here he is...a young one at that.

I apologize for the poor quality of these shots but they were taken
from the backseat and a REALLY dirty windshield.
I just enjoyed this story so much,
I decided to go ahead and share what I had.
If you've made it this far,
thanks so much!

Maybe they were working in tandem with the moose :) they were trying to distract you so the moose could make a getaway :)

Yes I do believe they wanted to lead you away from the babies. I've seen them get quite aggressive. Love your Moose hunt. Fun!!

(sigh....) goslings are cute, but, at last count, we had 30 Canada geese in our yard. I'm in the process of googling how to convince them to leave....

Fun photos . . . Crazy "lift off" and "landing" Geese . . . I think they thought they were on a roller coaster ride!

Happy there was a Moose sighting!

Maybe the geese were slowing you down so you would see the moose? Just a thought. Glad your moose hunt was successful!
