As Becky is at her graduation practice this morning,
I am spending my two hours reflecting
on the past 12 years.
Looking back at her first day of preschool,
it is easy to compare her to this beautiful rose bud.
She's always been pink.
Pink cheeks and a cheery attitude
(well, most of the time).
She has an enthusiasm for people
and life in general.
My sister in law once told me
"Hang on Jill, this one's going to take
you for a wild ride."
How right she was.
Becky has always jumped
right into everything,
Her mother, more timid
and shy, has learned to
grin and bear being made
the center of attention...
more often than not
and never by choice!
My long time followers
know I have lodged many
frustrated complaints agaisnt
this school and some of the insensitive staff.
But today,
I have a grateful heart
so full of appreciation for the staff
that have been on Becky's team
and had her back all of these years.
I also have to commend her peers,
most of which have been with her since grade school.
We hear all about bullying, far too often.
But her peers have stood by her and her friends,
no matter their differences.
Again, like this rose,
I have watched my daughter
blossom into a beautiful young lady.
There have been many battles
but the war has been won.
More struggles ahead,
to be sure.
But we now know,
we can survive anything.
When she graduates next Friday,
I'll have joy in my heart.

Such sweet sentiments, Jill. congratulations to her, and you! For you were the one to guide her along the path to where she is today :-)
You should be not only proud for her accomplishments but for your as her Mother. Without you she could not have made it. That push and those words of encouragements are what has made her the young girl she is today.
Congrats to Becky and to you as well.
Ana
Please share pictures of her graduation.
Jill, Congratulations to both of you. High School graduation is bittersweet. You acknowledge the pride of success, but you also realize the child is into their own. Becky is lucky to have you in her corner. Enjoy all the celebrations that accompany this moment. Bonnie

Jill...what a beautiful tribute to Becky and to be compared to a rose is a lovely rose is indeed an honor.
Children grow up so quickly. I can still vividly picture my daughter on her first day of kindergarten ....35 years ago.

Awww...I loved this. How wonderful! Congratulations to her...and to you, too. She couldn't have done it without you, you know? :)
As joy in your heart you should! It's very difficult raising children these days, and you've shared your more difficult times. But now, your work there is complete, and she begins a new part of her life's story. And, then you will be a part, a big part, of this next chapter too, dear Mom.
Hugs for both you and Becky!
