Tuesday evening,
I was out watching the sky
as severe weather was
in the forecast.
While standing on the deck,
it didn't take me long to notice
a bunch of butterflies
flitting around.
I've never seen so many at one time.
I'm guessing they are migrating.
Imagine my delight
Wednesday morning
when I was able to capture these shots.
I'm sure there are more
photos of this
Red Admiral Butterfly
then you care to see
but I can't help myself.
It's not often I can get
such close ups with my
point and shoot!

They are very pretty I am so glad you said their name. Thanks Jill. I only use a point and shoot. they work just fine. B
Butterflies are so beautiful. Any color and any style and size. They are gorgeous. I have a plant that they eat off of. I don't know what it is called because I bought it at a garage sale. It has these tiny purple flowers.
I went to a butterfly excursion while on a cruise and it was so much fun to learn about them.
Beautiful pictures.
I found a huge cricket on one of my plants the other day while gardening and just had to run inside and get my camera. Maybe I will blog about it. HMMM something different to blog about. It doesn't always have to be about crafting. Or does it?
Off to blog the cricket. Thanks Jill for the idea.

I think this is the year of the butterfly! I have never seen so many this early in the year. :)
Wow, you got some great photos! I never thought of putting an orange out for creatures to suck or eat from. Great idea!!!!
Oh Jill... your photos are just stunning, as are the butterflies!... I never get tired of looking at Nature photos... did you know that in Native American lore, butterflies signify eternal life?... I love the meanings that go along with Nature... xoxo Julie Marie PS I hope you did not get that severe weather!
So Pretty....Isn't it fun to be in the right place at the right time?
Great shots.
Do you have orioles at your oranges? I have tried but not succeeded...yet!

What great shots, and I never thought of putting an orange out for them!
What beautiful photos Jill. I wonder if this was the butterflies first taste of a fresh orange. You were so blessed with the sight of all the butterflies. I just cherish moments like these.
xo,
Danielle
We've never seen a red admiral butterfly and are very thankful you introduced it to us. OMC they like oranges too.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Imagine the butterfly's delight at finding that orange. Guess you were both quite happy at the time.
Love this series of shots Jill. Beautiful when the butterflies are around....and they certainly do love their citrus:)
just the opposite: i couldn't get enough of the scene and looked at the photos more than twice each. great shot, especially on an open-face orange. something sweet and divine in them.
Beautiful shots, Jill! My mom loved butterflies, so your photos brought her to mind. (Thanks!) ;)
Well done capturing them - any time I see a butterfly I'm just not fast enough to catch it. Lovely shots.
Your photos are so beautiful.
This was a visual treat . . . Happy your point and shoot took such great pictures . . . This site was better than Storm Watch, wasn't it . . .
Picture perfect Jill - such a thrill to see them, thanks for sharing. Can imagine how excited you were :D)
Hi again Jill... I think you just visited my fairy house once more (I can see from my feedjit who visits!)... hold on before you make one till you get the little package I sent you, I think it will come in handy!!!... xoxo Julie Marie
What amazing photos! And I love the stories of the plants in your previous post! What lovely ways to remember your parents. So special! Enjoy!
I adore butterflies and your pics are beautiful, Jill!
I had dozens of those today on my deck also! I just thought "Look what the storm blew in!"
how very cool! great pictures!
Our farm has been invaded with moths and small butterflies like these in the past two weeks. Kinda creepy when there's that many -- but your shot is lovely, so colorful with the orange. :)
Dear Jill,
You and I with our little point and shoot cameras do pretty darn good my friend. This is another fantastic shot of the butterfly! Just amazing!
Thank you for sharing, Jill. I love all of your shots of nature and beauty around your home!
Blessings for a fantastic weekend!
