Say Cheese!

I think you're all pretty aware that my girl likes to take pictures.
(I plead the fifth as to where that comes from).
What you don't know, is she likes to take photos of everything.
Like...her favorite (low cal) ice cream.
Or the posters hanging on her bedroom wall.
Or of the TV whenever something strikes her fancy,
like Kiss performing on Dancing with the Stars.
Or how about the Double Chocolate Cake she had at Prom.

Normally, I think this is just great.  After all,
what kind of a Mom would I be if I stifled her creativity?
And, it's not such a problem when I am able to utilize Snapfish or Shutterfly
and keep up with the amount of photos needing to be developed.  Mostly hers
as I keep mine on the computer.

But, well, I kinda let those photos slide a bit.
Yes!  I fell behind!  Stop laughing!
Still having problems with certain programs, like
the two photo finishing programs listed above,
we packed up our memory cards and headed for Walmart
on Saturday.
I was elated to arrive and see no one was in line
waiting for those self serve photo finishing
machines.  No line and NO stress of having anyone
waiting behind me was the most excitement this gal has had in quite awhile.

So I merrily set things in motion
then waited for the receipt to print out.
Let me tell you something...
once that receipt printed out and I read it,
I. Almost. Fell. OFF. My. Stool!

Why, you ask?
It was OVER 200 photos and was going to cost me
$62.06!

I took a deep breath and walked  paced around the store
waiting for the required 27 minutes to pass until I could pick them up.
I'll attest to feeling a little lot less euphoric,
even slightly dizzy.
Nuff' said.

So, in exactly 27 minutes I returned to the machine and
slipped in my receipt to be scanned.
The following message came up on the screen:
"Can not retrieve, please go to the service counter."
Not one to break any rules,
I went to the service counter.
The clerks (yes, it took 3 of them) tried adding paper,
turning knobs and whatever else they do.
After another 30 minutes of waiting,
I was told "Ma'am, we're sorry but if we can get your
contact information, we will call you when they are ready
and there will be....(wait for it)....

NO CHARGE!

NO CHARGE?  NO CHARGE!

Now THAT is great customer service.
Walmart has no idea who I am
but I wanted to share this with all of you.
I think moments like this need to be celebrated!

Wow! That is impressive...have you gotten the photos yet?

I don't blame her for taking pictures of yummy chocolate cake. I have been known to occasionally take photos of my food in restaurants, too. Sometimes it just looks so good that you HAVE to take a picture!

I have a love-hate relationship with Walmart. Today I am leaning much more to the love side. I also love that Becky takes pictures of the TV!

Wow, something nice being said about Walmart!!!! I'm glad they're doing this for you. Photos can get so expensive.

I don't go to Walmart, not because of the eccentric people and its reputation... but simply because the walmarts near me are all so claustrophobic. Things stacked from floor to high ceiling and the aisles are so narrow it makes me feel fat. ;-)

Funny -- I rarely get prints and just save everything on Flickr. Every once and awhile I'll get an offer for free prints from Shutterfly and print some out.

Anyway -- sorry about the malfunction. You didn't insist on paying? Lol. :)

Good Morning, Jill!

For all the Media complains about Walmart, and they show the 'typical Walmart shopper' as toothless, uncombed, 300+ pounds with stretchy clothes that don't fit and tattoos in places that shouldn't be showing, honestly they are people like you and me, and the rest of us. Do I shop there 100% of the time? Nope! But, for some things, they can't be beat.

I've almost never had bad customer service, and the one time I did, I called the Corporate offices and the Store Manager called me back within 15 minutes with a resolution.

All that said, I'm not surprised at what happened to you. The part of getting your photos free. Unfortunate that you must wait, but it turned out well for you! Those machines are played with by every unattended kid that walks by, so it is hard for them to have all self serve machine working in tip top shape.

$62 is a lot of photos! (I hope!)

Have a great day :)
Hugs,
Donna
