A Chain of Events

My oven quit working.  My dishwasher rack rusted though.  My refrigerator was on it's last legs.

Unfortunately, it was time for new appliances.  Wednesday, I went in search for these much needed items.  All were purchased (with the addition of a microwave) within a matter of a few hours.

All were installed the next day.

The frig has an ice maker which led to having to have a water line installed.  That led to having a water filtration system being installed underneath the kitchen sink and that led to the replacement of a pipe under said sink.

The microwave needed to go above the range so the old hood had to be removed and electrical work had to be done in the cupboard above.  That led to cleaning out that cupboard and all other kitchen cupboards (and drawers) which led to new pots and pans.

That also led to cleaning out the hall closet for any kitchen run over items which led to Becky's room being shoveled   cleaned out and rearranged.  Whenever that happens, excess gets tossed into my room which led to cleaning it out.
That led to finding my diamond necklace and a TV remote control that has been MIA for years and both led me to a huge WOOHOO!

Cleaning my room meant I needed more closet space which led me to going downstairs to clean out the guest bedroom closet and hall closet which led to many, many bags of garbage and items for donation.  It also led to a small TV that had been tucked away in the dark recesses of a closet.  That led to dusting it off, checking my room for a cable hook-up and in finding what I think is one is leading me to get someone over to help me with that at some future date.  Any volunteers?

That led to 3 broken closet doors being repaired.  That led to a stack of shoes and coats that needed going through, washing and preparing for donating or the garbage.  And that led to 3 entry way rugs that needed washing.

And that led to a new screen door being installed.

Which all led to the acknowledgement that my carpet is trash and must be next on the list....well...once I hit the lottery.  In the meantime, it may just push me over the edge!

And that has all led to:

1) Muscles I never knew I had.

2) A previously non painful knee that is no longer pain free.

3) An aching back and neck.

4) One gal that is going to sleep like a baby tonight!

When I first read your entry I was going to say things "come in threes" but now I say "when it rains it pours".

hilarious....after 24 hours with the mother-in-law, which led to cooking & cleaning for everyone, which led to washing sheets so she could sleep over.....which led to a nervous breakdown, which led to me, really needing this laugh!!

bless you....this is still much better then a day with my mother-in-law!!!

Expensive can of worms! I try not to even look at my appliances sideways, for fear that one of them will fall apart! It always ends up being a bigger project than just buying a new something!

You did get a lot done though! ;-)

Ugh I have a love/hate relationship with those days...so much accomplished, but holy cow!

All I could think about while reading this post was the book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" hehe

I agree with Michaele -- one thing leads to another, doesn't it? But I bet your house looks fantastic! :)

Now that you tired me out with all you did, think I'll go to bed! lol

Oh my goodness! I love getting new things, it's all the work and money spent that is not nearly as much fun.

All that getting done is almost worth the cost of those appliances!

What a day! I got tired just reading it!

Oh my!!!! How very wonderful! I love chain-reactions like this that lead to wonderful things happening all over the house! Congrats on all the new things.

My kitchen is so old and things are falling apart. When we get Taylor through college that is the first thing to be done...a new kitchen. So, I'm happy for you in knowing how depressing a broken down one can be!

Hope your aches and pains go away though! ha.

Ah Jill, the "joys of being a homeowner" just never cease. And then there is "the domino" effect which actually worked to your benefit with lots of cleaning getting done. I swear, there is a little bit of Erma Bombeck in you!!! Write this "stuff" down--you may have a best seller and not have to worry about winning the lottery. Mickie :)

LOL! This sounds soooo familiar. One project always leads to another. And another. And another...

I love the "domino effect" it happened to us two years ago, so I know exactly how that goes
