And Out With a Bang...

We (well, I) like to spend the night of the 4th at home.  I do not like battling the traffic once the fireworks are over, therefore, we do our own at home.

Here are my 'kids' all set for the night...

(Note:  Their shirts were hand painted by one of their talented aunts).

Since being single, I've learned to grill. Of course, we had to have ribs...

And eat outside...

And indulge in this...

And give thanks for this...

Wasn't long before we enjoyed these...

(My daughter took the shots of the fireworks...
didn't she so great)?

We all got to bed way to late but it was a lovely Fourth of July.

However,  this is what we woke up to this morning...

Thankfully, nothing was broken.  It is a mystery though.  We did have some rain last night but nothing else was disturbed.  I considered an animal but none of us (including the dog) heard anything.  All I can surmise is that the perfect gust of wind must have caught the umbrella just right.

Anyway, there you have it.  Our little family...our little 4th.  Hope you all had a great time too.

Yay! That looks like fun. I want that berry shortcake!!! Tell Becky she did an awesome job! Way better than I did!!! I think you should share your secret for the ribs...I accidentally got them right once - and of course, didn't make them again for a long time - so forgot what I did....they have never been as good since!

I'm glad you had a good 4TH. Personally, I'm glad it's over...all those bottle rockets make our little dog have major stress attacks.

wow - great looking dinner!

That's crazy about your table. How weird. Must've been some strange wind gust indeed.

I'm with you on the traffic! Looks like you had a perfect backyard celebration. The ribs and dessert look really Yummy. Our grown kids and cousins still enjoy lighting a few sparklers and small fireworks thingys in the driveway after the city display. I guess they'll never outgrow that.
So glad that adorable little table didn't get broken!

Nice you did all this for your kids even though you are single. John and I have become old fuddy duddies at holidays in our old age. We do go usually to the next town over for the fireworks display but it was canceled due to the drought we are in right now. Glad you had a nice one.

Looks like a fun Fourth. That is mysterious about the umbrella, etc. Doesn't that just bug you to not know what happened?!

Your 4th was very much like ours. Even the "at-home" fireworks, which is always fun.

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my blog today. I truly appreciate it, Jill. :)

Boy I'm surprised the falling table didn't wake you all up. Thankfully nothing broke.

Looks like fun! We normally do our own fireworks as well..because of the drought we skipped them this year. We had grilled burgers, curly fries, baked beans and blueberry cobbler from our blueberry bushes...yummy!

Great pictures! We have to put our umbrella down and tie it with a bungee cord or that happens every time there is a puff of wind. It's kind of a hassle...but then, umbrellas are expensive to replace!

It looks like you had a great holiday!
