I have returned.
From where you ask?
Some exotic vacation, perhaps?
Alas, no.
I have merely been trapped in the world of
today's technology.
ARRRRGGGHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Sorry, but I just had to get that out.
On with my tale.
I will never forget the first year I was divorced.
My ex left in November.
I had two children.
They were just turned 12 and 3.
And Christmas was upon us before I knew it.
I'm an early shopper.
I had everything purchased and wrapped.
Thank goodness.
Then Christmas Eve was here.
It was my Mom, kids and me.
And mountains of gifts that needed...
unpacking and assembling!
Have you ever had to unpack a Barbie?
Or any other type of doll?
After what seemed like hours of un-twisting about a million wire twist ties,
cutting a zillion threads to release Becky's new Barbie's into the world,
my head throbbed and my fingers bled.
That Christmas,
I became convinced that toy manufacturers should be in charge of
Home Land Security!
I'm not quite sure how I made it through.
But I did!
There were many more years similar to this one,
but luckily, my sister and brother in law joined us.
Thankfully, the brother in law was here the year
Becky got her Barbie house.
I'll never forget watching him
delicately hanging the curtains
and setting the miniature table with a setting for four.
He had the patience of a saint.
Fast forward to this last Christmas.
No more Barbie's or dolls.
Hallelujah!
No more Legos!
Yippee!
No more bloody fingers.
Yeah!
Technology has reached our home.
Wonderful electronics that make life so much easier!
Or do they?
I guess they do,
if you are savvy with electronics.
Which I am not.
I have been steeped in manuals
of one sort or another ever since Christmas has been over.
First up,
while the IPOD isn't new,
the ITUNE cards were.
Thank goodness,
I got the first card entered and running with no problems.
I was set!
Becky selected her songs and I proudly downloaded them.
Now, all I had to do was get them onto the IPOD.
Easy enough, right?
Not for me.
I can't count the many ways I tried to sync the computer and IPOD.
Nothing.
Envision me trying and trying over and over and over again,
while said 17 year old is badgering, badgering, badgering me to hurry up!
It was not a pretty site.
Enter tech savvy friend and her good advice...
Mission accomplished!
On to the next ITUNES card.
This will really be easy now that I know what I'm doing.
I enter the code into ITUNES.
No go.
OK...no biggie, I read the number wrong.
I entered it again.
No go.
I reread and reentered that number so many times
my eyes were blurry and my fingers were numb.
It.
Just.
Wouldn't.
Work.
It happened to be a Rewards card I earned so I turned to the phone for help.
What I heard was...
"Please return the card and we will
send you a replacement as soon as we
receive it."
No problem!
Well, until 17 year old lunges for the mailbox each day
and demands to know why the new card has NOT yet arrived!
Nothing more I can do with the IPOD so onto
the beautiful Digital Frame I received as a gift!
Easy peasy!
Quick start instructions directed me to place an SD into the frame
and turn the frame on.
I used Becky's SD card since her camera was right there.
Wow!
Beautiful pictures started popping up!
I couldn't wait to get my SD card into the frame.
Again, gorgeous pictures danced across the frame!
I sat and watched those picture satisfied and content.
Ut oh.
What happened to Becky's pictures?
They seem to have vanished.
I took my SD card out and put hers back in.
Now MY pictures are gone!
I've tried to store them all in the internal memory
but I get NO pictures!
No one has come to my rescue yet
so my frame sits empty
and my heart is so sad.
I'm not going to bore you any further
with the Label Maker I got.
So I decided to take a break from all that stuff to
dress up my blog a little.
As you can see, that hasn't happened either.
I was close.
But close only counts in horseshoes.
I can't even get the rest of my pictures on here today.
Heaven only knows what I'm doing wrong this time.
I think I've proved my point.
I.
Am.
NOT.
Good.
With.
Electronics.
I'm going to take a nap!
And I WON'T be setting the alarm!

Okay, I'm laughing right now...the whole label maker thing just made me smile!! If you ever need help dressing up your blog, let me know and I'll walk you through it! :)
The world is full of too much technology! Just when you finally figure something out, they change it. I'm starting to think technology is evil!
Technology....smechnology!!! I have an old computer, an old cell phone, no Ipod or even an MP3 player....and I am afraid of the day when one of them dies - because then I will have to get something new and have my children show me how to use it! Oh, the horrors. I remember teaching my mom and dad how to use a VCR and thinking they were so slow....you know??? Now I am them!!! ;)
