Cascade River

A stop on the way back
from Grand Maris
proved to be one
of the highlights
of the trip, for me.

The Cascade River
is in a gorge
built upon
black volcanic rock.

The hike in was up a lot of stairs.
Thanks to the smells of the forest
and the distant sound of the waterfalls,
it proved to be a very
lovely trek.

It had been a rather long day,
but coming here was absolutely
invigorating
and I could tell
it lifted all
of our spirits.

As you will see, later in the week,
this was not the grandest of waterfalls
we visited.
However,
a favorite as it was
not overcrowded with people.
In fact, we saw very few on our hike.

We were able to engage
all of our senses and
refresh our souls
at this,
a gift
from Mother Nature.

Hi Jill, We live so close to Minnesota and I have never been. Sure looks beautiful! Is it true the Mosquitos are as big as sparrows? Only kidding;-) Have a great time, safe travels.
