I'm a bit all over the place this morning so I thought I'd just blog some snippets of this and that. Are you ready? OK..here we go.
1) Right now, I have a brother and sister in law (yes, they are married to each other) that are touring Alaska in their RV. I get an occasional text and/or picture on my phone of where they are and what they are doing. I spent a year living in Anchorage. Makes me a little melancholy for those days. I'm happy they are enjoying it yet I'd like to gouge their eyes out cause I wish it were me!
2) Like everyone else, we're suffering from very high temperatures and high humidity. We have been having storms pop up every now and then. My home is surrounded ( and I mean surrounded) by huge pine trees. I've always loved to watch them sway in the wind. Well, that is, until this year. I have seen so many downed (big) trees and large tree limbs down that I've gotten to be a little nervous. I rarely "seek shelter" if the weather sirens go off but have sought shelter this year just because of high winds.
3) Which reminds me. I have a nice routine now for when it's time to "seek shelter." I grab my purse, toss in a remote land line phone, make sure my cell phone is in my bag and grab our basket of medications. Yesterday, I just had to face the heat to run some errands. We made several stops and upon making my last stop (the pharmacy) I discovered I still had my remote home phone in my purse. Yes, my face was red.
4) While returning home from the errands yesterday, my daughter and I were both overheated and shall I say...not too pleasant to be around. We quickly agreed that should our A/C ever give out, we'd have to rush to a hotel or be at risk of killing each other. Seriously, it was that bad.
5) I've been overwhelmed by all of your wonderful comments and the number of new followers that have been joining in recent weeks. I've spent a lot of time lately though questioning if I really have anything to contribute to the blog world. I look at your blogs and am always amazed at your stunning photos, insight, travels, creativity, etc. In fact, I have been running out of adjectives while leaving my comments for you. I'll have to get my dictionary and thesaurus out to keep things fresh!
6) I'm trying to prepare for two camping trips in August. One for 4 nights (I think the heat has affected my decision making process) and one for 1 night. We just took up camping last year so I'm still a novice. It takes me a LOT of my brain power (which is diminishing on a daily basis) to mentally prepare for these trips. I don't think I over pack but it sure is a challenge to get everything into my vehicle!
7) Today it's supposed to reach 100 here and that is before any heat index is applied. Yesterday, we had the hottest day in 45 years. It will interesting (?) to see how things end today.
8) I am really enjoying this season of America's Got Talent. LOVE it!
9) The little boy in my previous post is a dear friends child. I did day care for him this past school year.
10) A local restaurant was hit by lightning yesterday. They are now calling the hole in the roof their skylight. The same storm knocked the power out at our local grocery store (several miles away) and they have been running on a generator!
OK, I've gone on long enough. If it's hot where you are, stay cool and hydrated. If it's dry where you are, I wish you rain. For all of you, I wish you summer joy.

Just think how everyone suffered from the heat 45 years ago with no A/C! We think we are in hell now! Thoughts to ponder.........
yikes. hang tough. i know the humidity must be insufferable. thanks for the with for rain. i'll mix it into mine. :)
Pine trees are shallow rooted and are usually one of the easiest trees to be blown down. It is wise to be a little cautious. I think this heat wave has all of us screaming. It is best just to stay in, and pump that AC down. Keep up you writing. And, I don't really need any new adjectives....fabulous, wonderful, awesome, beautiful, terrific...they are all grand for me....ha! ha! ha! (folks just don't realize I have a sense of humor, really!) Bonnie
Jill I love visiting your blog everyday you post. Wether it's a post about your children, your garden, or just whats going on in your life it inspires me and brings joy to my day. Stay cool today and enjoy the AC!!
First of all...you have a lot to offer the blog world...do not give up! Which restaurant has a new sky light?
I want to plan a camping trip for the fall too! When it's cooler!
Jill, I would be lost without your blog. It is interesting no matter what you write. Always very interesting and you do provide beautiful pictures. You and Becky stay as close to AC as you can. Beware of the big pines. They do go down rather easily. We had 3 huge pines blow over in our yard several years ago. We watched them go over and they came our roots and all. We be very aware of how dangerous they can be in a strong wind. Hope I didn't scare you but I would hate for one to fall on our house.
I hope your bad weather breaks soon and becomes more comfortable.
Jill Mom and I thoroughly enjoy your blog...you have lots in common with Mom!
1.For instances today we found out you love Alaska. Mom obsessed with that beautiful state too. She and Dad went there in 2005 to celebration their 35th anniversary.
2.We have too many tall pines in our yard too
they scare us during t-storms.
3. Mom is very cranky when she is too hot too!!
Mom is convinced this long horrible heat wave is getting to everyone and making it hard to function. Hang in there.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Your blog is just great! Keep it up! Nice to know so many of us are on the same track!
The heat must be getting to you. We love you and your blog. Don't change a thing. : )
Ya can't quit now I just found you. Stay cool, don't know how we stood it growing up without even a fan.
ooooohhhhh it's just too hot everywhere!!
your blog is wonderful, each of us is unique, that's what makes it fun!! i love the varity i find here....bits and pieces of your life, it's just lovely!!!
I love your blog! Please don't stop writing! And I apologize that I'm always a day late commenting. I do most of my blog reading in the morning, and the rest of the day just "gets away from me". Some days I'm not near the computer again til late night.
Hope your heat wave is over soon. Our heat index yesterday was 107, so I can definitely relate!
Hi, i've just found your blog. Only started blogging myself fairly recently and i'm already finding it fairly addictive. I've added myself as one of your followers - hope that's ok
First of all, although I'm a new follower, I enjoy and appreciate seeing you in my comments list. You are down to earth, which is sometimes difficult to find in the blog world.
And second, I gave up trying to come up with new words for fabulous, wonderful, etc... I just use what comes to mind. I like to think people are thankful you showed up to comment. At least I am. :)
Jill, Your post was "fun"--reminds me a little of Erma Bombeck (who I always loved). Even the mundane tasks of life and just "day to day" living can have some humor in them. It is soooo hot here too--August to face next (are you sure you want to be out camping in this)!!!!! Well, keep as cool as you can and have a nice weekend. Mickie :)
