Remember...

Do you remember...

your carefree days of childhood,
running through the grass,
shoes kicked off,
no where to be seen?
The green blades of grass,
sneaking up between your
sweet, soft toes,
ever gently tickling you?

Do you remember...

running till you couldn't breath,
feeling the soft kisses of the wind,
landing upon your cheek
as it embraced you in its arms?

Do you remember...

a mother's touch
so loving and caring,
assuring you it will be alright,
that you are loved?

Do you remember...

feeling safe,
secure,
unworried,
carefree,
happy,
joyful,
excited
and hopeful?

Do you remember...

a country that was about
US,
not I?

Think about it.
We're in an age of technology
that brings us together
yet tears us apart.
It's all about I...
I Pads, I Phones,
I Want.

We spend hours "communicating"
via technology.
But has it cost us the inability
to make real life connections?

Think about it.
Especially for the
"kids" of today.
Do they
really. know. how. to. connect?

I don't have the answers but I do know this,
we all need to pay attention
to what's happening in this country.

We need to care.
We need to act.
We need each other.

I have mixed feelings about the 'olden days' because those were also the days of more discrimations and inequalities and abuses. I suppose no time is perfect.

So true. I know that we can do amazing thing with our technology, but on a personal level, so much of it is destructive, especially to our kids and the fabric of our families. Thanks for your thoughts. Have a good day.

I suppose our children have their own memories that are just as special to them as ours are to us.

Times change. :)

I think about that and Nancy's comment "times change" but there does not seem to be the same kind of parental guidance there once was, or am I just getting old??

Jill - I just wrote about technology today too - I think it is kind of sad....

so true, Jill. As I was vacuuming earlier today, I had the thought: "I'm stuck in Mayberry". I want everything to be the way it was then....

I don't know the answer, but I am deeply worried about what kind of future my grandchildren are going to have.

it is true - we are desensitized by instant and constant 'news' reports. connected but non-communicative.

One thing for sure, change is inevitable, so even what we know today will not remain. People will eventually figure things out :)

I remember my childhood being carefree and fun with simple things. Nowadays kids just grow up way to quickly.
You have a lovely way with words, just like your sister. :))

I think, in everything . . . "balance" is key . . . it feels like there are many things "out of sync" . . .

I guess not getting disheartened is what I am striving for . . . my latest is inviting grandkids to "Playing Board Game Night!" . . . and they said . . . "WHAT!" . . .

I have a picture of me and my sister holding hands with our Mom looking out at the ocean. So many times I look at it and wish I was little again and could sit on my Mom's lap and feel safe. Yes, those were the days!

oh Jill, we need to find our own peace and joy within!! A beautiful entry!!

wonderful entry and yes I remember my small home town where it was safe. Where we played out side all day. where we could hitch a ride with anyone and not worry. Oh for our kids to know those days even though I do love technology.

I dont want to sound like an old fuddy duddy but I do worry about our youth. I really dont think they are developing communication skills in a healthy manner. Most communication is done by text message, FB and tweets. Ugh, what ever happened to a good old phone calls, sitting in your bedroom laughing with a friend over what happened at school that day etc. Oh I could go on and on...but I wont

I'm so sorry that I haven't visited for so long. I've missed you all !!
I agree totally! My doughtier and family visited recently and, after we'd all chatted, I was making tea and turned around to find the 4 of them all looking at their iPhones. How sad!!

We do need to be kinder to one another, that's for sure. But I doubt way back when was any better than it is today. We just are more aware of the terrible things that are going on now.

Dear Jill, I often think that our generation had more time and more fun. It seems that technology has taped us to the phone and computer and people forget to go outside and say hello. They even forget how to spell! Blessings dearest. Catherine xoxo
