I totally agree, but I will tell you a secret, but don't tell my boss...if a student bring his/her bible and read it in my class, I just smile, walk by their desk, and whisper very quietly, "I think it is cool that you are reading that." I usually get a big smile back. The bible is great literature and contains a moral code for life and society and I think it would be great if we studied (and lived it) a bit more.

I am Indian and Hindu, and am kind of amazed by the (lack of) religious/moral education in our schooling systems.
What I do not understand is why keeping the Bible or some other religious book with oneself is not allowed in your schools?
