we called them "punks". we use to dry them and burn them, back in the day.....you know, when we walked 5 miles both ways to get to school!! hehe

In UK these are called bulrushes. Cattail is a much more interesting name. Very refreshing photos:-)

I've always loved cattails. My grandmother used to have a huge vase full of them that I always loved to play with as a small child. :)
