I Must Be Crazy

I can't believe I am going to post these before pictures.
Becky's room isn't so bad
(I am used to the "hot" pink
and will probably miss is a little bit).

The bathroom on the other hand?
EMBARRASSING!
This just proves how
transparent
and willing to share
everything with you,
my local readers.
Right? ha!
Not only am I bad at painting,
I am terrible at picking out paint!

No need to be nice.
The proof is in the pictures.

Just let me walk you through this, k?
Those big blobs of dark blue
was the first color I tried.
It was a disaster!

The next time I had wanted to lighten
things up a bit a lot.
Trying to appease Becky,
I got a little carried away
and got a pinkish/purplish color.
What does not show in the photos
and what I had not expected was how
BRIGHT it was!

To try to tone things down,
I purchased white cabinets
that hung in those ugly blue spots.
They needed to be painted too.
Oy Vey!
Both shall be done
in much, much, much, much, much
milder and calmer colors.

Today is the day
the painting begins.
Thanks to a dear friend
that LIKES (something I cannot relate to)
to paint I will have help!
WooHoo!

Now let's just hope the vision
in my head looks as nice
on the walls.
Wish me luck!

Hey Jill. I love to paint. That is basically my job here at home My husband hates doing it, so I paint.
I would have come over and helped. Maybe next time. Just give me some time to buy a plane ticket. LOL.
Good luck getting all the painting done. Can't wait to see the outcome.

Oh my goodness...and 'bless your heart'!!! You are such a great mama trying to please your girl, I'll give you a high five for that! Painting is such a pain. {I had a bit of painting anxiety yesterday!}
After your post about the 'beet' room, I dreamt last night that my husband painted our guest room a shade of red/cranberry!!! I was so stressed. :)
Best of luck, be careful today!

Have fun! I enjoy painting rooms because it's so nice when you get done to sit back and see a whole new room...It usually startys a snowball effect though and I start remodeling everything around it!:O)

Oh Jill, you make me laugh (hope that's ok). I love the way you write.
I'm sure you will love it when it is finished.
Danny is at the moment painting doors and woodwork in our hall - it's looking so much better and fresher. I can't wait till it's finished.

Good luck today, Jill! (my daughter went through a pink room...then she wanted it some kind of green and an odd blue, now she has a lilac color and it's staying that way forever!) haha I told her this mama is not going to be painting again anytime soon.

I have the same problem! Every paint is 10 shades brighter than it was in the store!! Every room I have in this house has been painted more than once because of that!

Just remember to tape everything off!:) I'll share with you a couple things. One. Love the tree outside your daughter's window. Awesome look out. Two. It can always be repainted again. Give yourself time:) Your rooms look fine:) And 3. I don't believe in white walls...never have. Our entire home is color, but I made a mistake once when painting.....I attempted a bright orange for the bathroom and decided halfway through that it made me physically sick. I stopped. Let it dry. And decided on a more neutral brown color:) Have fun and wear old clothes:) 3 or 4 coats may be in order to cover that pink:) I may be exaggerating a little:) But red, pink and orange require several paintovers:)

Hi Jill, It's only paint, and I swear some of the rooms in my home are actually smaller for all the coats of paint on my walls! Few things are as satisfying as a newly painted wall, good luck! Love, Penny

Jill,

I can't wait to see an update! Being so bold with red walls is very, well bold - but I've seen it done and with the right accessories it will be fabulous!

Well, I'm with your friend, I love to paint! It's just with all of my health issues, I need someone to help me, and if we had enough time, I could tell you a story about my husband and my painting experience and we would laugh our buttocks off!!

Hope you're having fun, Jill!

Blessings,
Donna

Wonderful that you've got such a helpful friend.
I don't like to paint and will do anything to get out of it!
Good luck, it will turn out well I'm sure. Looking forward to "after" pics :D)

Oh Jill I understand this I admire that you tackle these big jobs alone, I myself try to drag someone in to help. It is going to look amazing and I also understand the missing thing. Take care hug. B

Thinking of you!

Remember this when painting! It has NEVER FAILED FOR ME~

Pick the paint color you want and then go 1-2 shades lighter! PRESTO! Perfect color.

I also brought paint cards home from the store and looked at them in the room at different times of the day. This helped me NOT to go too dark for my dining room!

Can't wait to see the results!

We lucked out and our house was painted before we moved in. Lol. I think it was the realtors trying to spruce it up. Love the chocolate brown walls in the basement and the beige bedroom ones, but I'm not crazy about our gray, dirty looking walls in the front living room and hallways. You all picked some hard colors to work with, but I am sure that you all will love it when it is finished! Good luck! : )..
