And the Apple(s) Go To...

I guess
inquiring minds want to know.
Just what did I do
with 30 lbs of apples?

Well, thanks to my friend
that has two apple trees,
we added about another 30 lbs to mine.

Here's a batch from her trees.
McIntosh and Honey gold.
Yum!

Once they were
all washed,
we set to work.
We peeled.
Some of us with this
cool little unit...

It peeled, cored and sliced all at once!

Even Becky got in on the action.
And some of us peeled, cored,
and sliced by hand.

We canned
22 quarts of
apple pie filling
and
24 half pints of apple butter.

This is just my half of the goodies!

It was a great day
of production in my kitchen
and it sure smelled good in here!

We're both using some
of what we made as Christmas gifts.
(Valerie, do NOT tell Jim).
We'll add some other
goodies to go with it
and hopefully appease some
appetites longing for a taste of fall
in the dead of winter.

So there you have it!
My take on apples!

You have been busy, looks lovely though. I can only imagine how lovely the smell must have been. Apple butter - is that a bit like lemon curd but only apple instead or lemon?
