The Journey Continues...

We turned into the campground and immediately were drawn to this:

Becky couldn't wait to get any closer to take her picture of the heated pool (trust me, it was so hot they did not have the heater going).

And things looked promising when we saw this nice office:

We easily booked our site.  I was delighted to be able to get a site in the 'overload' part of the camp as I do not like to camp on top of others.  Here we are, quite far away from everything and everyone...

Very well manicured site of the edge of very heavily wooden forest.  It was way too far to walk to the restrooms so when we didn't drive...well...you get the idea.

We quickly set everything else up, were very overheated and went for a lovely, cool, refreshing dip in the pool.  I was a little sad as I had hoped for beautiful sunrise/sunset pictures over the river but it wasn't a part of this campground (although, I never did see the river at the other creepy place either as it was promised.

After our swim, Becky surprised me with this:

I got dinner ready and lit the fire and we relaxed by the fire:

Well, some of us relaxed.  Others had to pace the site as they talked to their (first) girlfriend:

Sister being irritated with brother having no time for her...

But Max found a favorite spot:

This is Becky trying to catch a bat  so she could tame it as a pet...
(I say YUCK)!

Sorry for the poor quality of this photo but I kind of like it.

Once we all got settled near the fire,
I read the usual ghost stories
and we settled in for our first night's sleep at camp.

As I mentioned, I like to be secluded
so don't tell anyone this...
I don't sleep much the first night
as I plan out what I would
do in case a bear might find us,
or a strange axe wielding killer stumbles upon us,
or a severe storm moves in...

the rest of the story tomorrow.

You're braver than I am. I only "camp out" in nice hotels who have spas and room service!

Nice site for camping, great that you had a pool there. (The odd pic - I like it too) You read ghost stories on the first night? All I can say is - Brave! I know about thinking of bears and other thieves, when you are out camping. I refused to camp in Yellowstone, after I saw the sign "Grizzly Territory".

I missed your first camping post, so I will have to backtrack, but I take it, it wasn't the best?

This one looks great, especially with a pool.

What fun! I haven't been camping in years...but I suspect I'd be just like you a lie awake all night long thinking about what I'd do if a bear found us. And then imagining that every little sound WAS a bear!

OH MY word...you have my admiration and praise. I don't sleep outside...LOL but then it is too hot to do that in NC this time of year. Good for you getting the kids away for family time.

I think that fuzzy picture looks like a ghost picture. Camping is so fun, we had a pop-up camper when our kids were little. Our kids loved to camp. Looks like a good time Jill. You are such a good momma.
