Two Harbors Light House

This lighthouse is located on Lake Superior
in Two Harbors, Minnesota.

It was built in 1892 from
red bricks and the tower
is 49.6 feet tall.
It is the oldest operating  lighthouse in America.

Three lighthouse keepers were assigned each day to
keep it lit.

Looking up at the light.

The attached light keeper residence
is now a bed and breakfast.
Yes, it is said to be haunted
by the wife of one of the keepers.
The story tells of how much she
loved it here and never wanted to leave.
Her ashes are scattered all about the property
and it is reported that she is often
heard and felt in the rooms.
She never does any harm though.
She just doesn't want to leave.

A view of Lake Superior from the top level.

A look down the staircase.
I adore the traditional red and white.

\
The Assistant Keepers home.

A small peak inside.

The keepers journal.

The docks.

This was one of the highlights of the trip.
I took many more photos but
felt these were the best representation.

The Two Harbors Lighthouse tour was fantastic...and ghostly. I loved her sign and that she just doesn't ever want to leave. It would be awesome to stay at the B&B and meet her.
You have had quite the travels and I have totally enjoyed tagging along.
Did you find any agates on the Lake Superior shoreline?

Hi Jill, There is something about a lighthouse that is so romantic, I wouldn't want to leave...what better place to spend eternity than by one of our Great Lakes . PS... I'll be haunting Lake Michigan myself;-). Safe travels. Love, Penny

Dear Jill, That is something that the wife doesn't want to leave. It reminds me of the movie, The Ghost and Mrs. Muire.
It sounds like you really enjoyed this vacation. I am so glad for you.
I like the red and white too. It always seems to be a happy color combo. Blessings dearest. Catherine xo
