Changing

Things are changing.
I can smell it,
I can hear it,
it's all in the air.
Even the shadows
are changing.

Spring is coming.
Oh, I know it's not over.
After all, I live in Minnesota
and March is full of madness...
as in Basketball and Hockey
tournaments,
as well as the weather.
We can count on a last minute blizzard...
or two.

I don't mind so much
as the snow won't last long now.

But I love the smell of spring coming.
And the birds announcing in their sweet
voices...
"It's coming!  It's coming!"

For now,
I'm also entertained by the tracks in the snow.
These are Max and bunny tracks.
Nice and close to the house
and I imagine the bunny is looking forward
to spring too...
and a garden plant or more.

These tracks,
on the other hand
have be puzzled.

I know some are from Max
and others from squirrels
but those long, skinny "tracks" have me stumped.

Do any of you have an idea of what they may be?

I'd like to leave you with this:
Charles Dickens once described March as
"Summer in the light and winter in the shadows."

It is, indeed,
full of magic.

An update:
Snow headed this way tonight
until Tuesday.  Might be a lot.
  Yup!  It's March in Minnesota!

We moved to Arizona to get away from the snow and our winters are mostly perfectly lovely, but from time to time, I do miss having actual seasons and looking forward to spring after a winter heavy with snow. I do love the way you write. You have a way with words. Enjoy the week ahead. Stay safe and warm!

I'm stumped. It's obvious they aren't bigfoot prints! :)

We have that old nasty forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday for more snow too. I take heart in the thought that spring is just a little over 2 weeks away.

Oh dear are you still getting snow - you must be wondering when it will stop!
Hopefully spring won't be too much longer.
Keep warm and think of all the lovely daffodils and other spring flowers that will be appearing soon (hopefully).

I think the name of the game for a few more weeks will be, . . . "it is what it is!"

Even so . . .
Daylight longer
Sunshine
Shadows
Bird chirps
Freshness of the air

Truth be told, after the winter, comes the spring . . .

Around the corner . . . around the corner . . .

Oh boy. You need to bundle up and stay warm. Hopefully it won't be to bad for you all. Our weather is freezing with 60 degrees. Yes, I know, but for the sunshine state, it is freezing.

I'm so excited about the snow I can hardly contain myself! The birds seem more vocal, more people out for walks with the dogs....yep I can see springs on the way......after the snow storms :)

It is pretty to see..in pictures! When it happens around here, I am ready for it to be gone within a day or two.

What a great quote, summer in the light and winter in the shadows. It absolutely sums up March! I hope your snow storm isn't too heavy.... Spring is as you say on the way :)

Now I'm really curious about those tracks. Stay warm until spring does arrive at your door.

I would love to get away from the snow as it is heading this way this week also. But our weatherman can't really decide if we're getting snow or not. Hope it's not too much by you! That was a beautiful card. :)

I am going to have to get outside a bit today because that storm is heading our way tomorrow. I am hoping it's the last one of the year. I need nice weather for Easter, as we are not going to all fit in this room!
I have no idea what those tracks are. Looks like someone rode a bicycle in the snow! Buttons is probably right, she is out in the bush all the time and recognizes all kinds of tracks I'm sure.
