Times... They Are a Changin'

Tomorrow,
I'm off for my first day of work.
I did go in for training one day last
week and I survived!

So much more has been going on
so I thought I'd fill you in.
In the last two weeks,
I have been on my first AND second
date in 14 years!
OK. Don't get too excited.
I have had one blind date in that time
but we were not each others
"types."
And, well, if I'm honest
and I am,
I have to admit
the dates were Becky's, not mine!
I was the lowly driver and chaperon.
Remember her first day of school
when she came home with
an UN-named boys phone number?
"That" boy and my daughter
have become very attached.

It's OK.
I just keep telling myself to breath.
Alot.
Cause I'm not ready for this.
Oh dear.
Breath.
Ok.
Moving on.

I first met "him" two weeks ago
when I provided transportation for their
date to a bowling alley/arcade place.
All was going very well and
they were completely enjoying themselves
and I was reading a good book.
And then...
and then...
I got the bill for the date!
Lot's of self talk here...
OK...I have a job now.  Thank heavens.
But little did I know I needed
it for dating...
and not MY dating.
Deep breath.
OK...it's worth it to see them having fun.
And he is a nice boy.

Needless to say,
I'm having to share the phone every night.
This from the girl that has NO time to chat on
a phone and is now spending almost an hour
a night talking to the "boy."
Thank goodness for cell phones
or I'd be out of touch,
out of the loop
and out of my mind!
I really don't talk THAT much on the phone but
it has been an adjustment!

Fast forward to this last Saturday
and date number two.
Off to a movie.
This time he paid.
And what a gentleman,
he opened the doors for
her...AND for me!
They shared popcorn, candy
and lots of laughs.
It was that time
so I offered to take them out for pizza.
As I arose from  my seat, I seemed
to have a little struggle getting up...
but I just tried to keep up with the "kids."
Once I sat upon my leather seat in my car,
I noticed I was sticking to it.
Oh yes!
I had sat in gum during the movie!
(Thanks to my sisters' recommendation, Goo Gone took
it off of my pants, car seat AND out door chair)!
Moving on...
by the time we arrived at the restaurant,
"they" had decided on pasta,
not pizza
to the tune of another $40 tab...
on Mom.

As our food arrived,
my cell phone started ringing
and then beeping.
I missed a call and had a message.
The
 kids wanted to know...
"What's going on?"
Glancing at my watch,
and noting it was about 7:30 p.m.,
and with a red face,
I explained to the boy
that friends and family
are not used to me being out at night.
They were checking up on me!
The boy slapped his hands on his
head,
laughed from his toes
and exclaimed

"I love this family!"
We like you too," boy".  We like you too.

And that my friends,
is what's been going on.

Where did you get a job AND do you think it might be serious with Becky and her beau?

You make every thing sound happy and fun. I like that about you. Even gum on the movie chair seat gave me a chuckle . . .not fun no doubt, but you made it sound okay!

Happy Becky is enjoying her friend . . . sounds like it is getting you out and about and spending some "nickels" too!

It's difficult growing up for a second and third time with our children, except all we get to do now is watch (and worry) and eventually relax and let go :) Best of luck in your work week!
