How Hot Is It?

As I write
this, the thermometer
reads 100 degrees.
The heat index is 112.
Often times,
I run into people that
think Minnesota doesn't get hot.
It does.

In fact, it's so hot today it's too hot to:

or swim,
or to use my Nook outside,
it  refuses to work.

It's so hot,
the butterflies, birds and bees
are utilizing the sprinkler I have running.
It's so hot,
we've been doing indoor things.
We just got back from this:

,

and this will be our supper:

Cold veggie pizza

and this will be desert:

Fruit Pizza

NO cooking for this girl today.

As I am wishing you all a wonderful
4th of July,

I am sending prayers to
everyone that is suffering from
fires, heat, no electricity (I could not survive without air),
flooding
and the families that have service personnel
serving this great country of ours.

Be safe.
Be well.
God Bless America.

I am so sorry you are having to endure the heat. Being too hot is so miserable. Looks like you are having lots of fun despite the heat. How was the Spiderman movie? Happy fourth of July to you and your family Jill.

Danielle

Hi Jill, what is with these weather conditions just now and when will it stop. It's actually quite frightening. Here in Scotland we really have nothing to complain about compared what you are all suffering from over there in the States.
Keep safe and try to stay cool.
Oh and enjoy you pizzas!!!

It's hot here too - but only 97° so a lot cooler than 100. :))

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful Independence Day! In spite of the heat.

We have very hot temperatures here in Miami as well. We did lay out in the sun for a little while and then grilled some hot dogs. But we are now relaxing inside with the air full blast.

Happy 4th to you.

It hit 101 here today but has dropped down to 96 right now. I am ready for the heat wave to end.

I always thought Minnesota would be cooler.

My favorite author is from Minnesota, John Sandford. He bases his stories around the twin cities. I love his books. Good old murder mysteries.

I'm right there with you on the heat!! We had storms that knocked our power out for 4 days--I got back from a trip to KY just in time to enjoy a day and a half of it, and that was plenty for me--I was miserable and so were the dogs. But no end or relief is in site....Unfortunately...Stay cool and I hope you've had an enjoyable 4th !!!

I worry about those without air conditioning. Miserable heat. Stay cool anyway you can! Happy 4th!

Very smart on your part. I like the cool food idea. Welcome to my last part of June! What a nightmare! No going out, trapped inside the house.....DISLIKE! We got rain today...lots of it and 70 degree weather....it was a very wet 4th here....but nice. That 112 is not fun at all. It's surprising to hear that you have those temps, but you did the right thing and not grill out. Some people feel compelled to do this.....

Hi Jill, I was worring about rain for my party this weekend, but now it seems like a better idea than this heat. How in the world did our grandparents live without AC? A Amen to your prayers for all those suffering through the heat, fires...and for those that serve. Love, Penny

It is too hot, too soon- weird weather- glad you found cool ways to enjoy the day!

Jill, I hope your heat wave is short lived. I know we are in it for the long haul. It is part of "what is" here in the south. A cool movie house on the 4th sounds like the perfect way to spend it. Stay safe. Bonnie

Poor Jill... oh boy, it sounds very very hot. I like your cold food ideas - very sensible, and delicious.
Beautiful sentiments at the end of your post too :D)

Hi Jill,

Yes it is way too hot out.

In your previous post...I am so sad for those birds. I can't imagine the heat doing that! I've heard that wrens can take over other nests. I'm wondering if those babies were wrens, or if wrens took over that nest. Who knows. So sad though...

I have survived without a/c (or water) since last Friday. You can do it. However, I don't recommend it. I've had heat migraines every afternoon and I am also the world's grumpiest mom. Also, I'm freaking out over the laundry pile.
