All in The Details

Invitations were sent out 7 weeks ago.
Sadly, out of 20 cousins 20 can't attend.
Good reasons
but feel so badly for my kids.
Good, family help
arriving early.

Twenty-five pounds of pulled pork ordered
as are 200 buns and a cake to feed an army.
310 meatballs ready to be sweet and soured,
16 cans of beans ready to be calicoed,
five dozen eggs ready for deviling,
a friend making Italian pasta salad
and another making Cowboy Caviar.
Nine pounds of Mango Salsa
ready to be dipped
in chips from my sister.
Coleslaw waiting to be
made and
roughly, 100 candy graduation caps
ready for snacking,
nuts and mints to adorn the trays.
Jars of wishes,
silk flowers and nut bowls
ready to anchor the tables.
Decorations galore,
bubbles for the taking,
pop and water
waiting to be iced.
Watermelon waiting to be purchased.
There's more but I can't find my list.
Egads!

Carpets shampooed,
windows washed,
screens vacuumed,
kitchen drawers and cupboards washed and oiled.
Bathroom grout
returned to white,
about 20 mason jar citronella candle
jars waiting to be hung
Trees trimmed to accommodate an RV.
Dog bathed, cat combed.
The yard is calling for attention.

Becky off to her first day of work
yesterday.
Out of my hair for an hour or three,
peace and quiet for Mom at home.
Ha!  Who am I kidding?
I just read what's left to be done!

From here on out,
you may not hear from me for a
day or two
or maybe even a week or so.
I'll be thinking of you though,
while entertaining several dozen dust bunnies.

ooohhh jill, your crazy doing all that cleaning before a party. no one will notice and it will be so dirty after!!

the only person who knows the bathroom was cleaned is the first person who uses it. if it's a female, then 2 people will know!!

i love all the party details, it sounds like you have it all covered. be sure and get some pictures before everyone messes it up!!

I'm hungry now. Coleslaw sounds so good....oh and pulled pork. You have a great time. Enjoy it all. It all happens so quickly. Someone once told me that the enjoyment from these events actually comes from the planning....and I tend to agree. Because the day of the event always flies by much too quickly. Have fun!

Sad that the cousins can't attend your event...it will be their loss...sounds like the party will be a fun and happy occassion any way. Enjoy the fun, (despite the dust bunnies).

Dear Jill,

Congratulations to Becky - not only for graduating, not only for her first day of work, but for having such a terrific and wonderful Mom who is doing all this and more for her daughter and her friends!

Ah - don't worry about the list at this point - you've already done so much in the house, in the yard, cooking, making decorations - if you've forgotten ANYTHING - not a soul will know but you!!

You are a wonderful Mom! Sounds like it's time for a break!
Blessings, dear friend,
Donna
