They've Arrived

The wait always seems
so long.
Especially when I see pictures of all of yours.
When I realize the calendar says
May 10,
I have to admit they are actually early.
I do hope you're not all tired of them.

Their heady aroma
has always intoxicated me.
As a young girl,
I dreamed of getting married and
carrying a huge bouquet of them.

I still fancy lovely childhood memories
when I see and smell them.
But they always have and always will
make me think of my Mom.
She instilled her love of flowers within me.

Seven years ago this month,
she passed away.
My brother diligently cut lilacs
in the rain.
My sister and I placed them lovingly in vases
and filled the alter at church with them.
It is what she would have wanted.
Along with a lone bagpiper
playing her songs.

As Mothers Day arrives on Sunday,
I share the loss of others that
no longer have their Moms with them.
For those that still have their Moms,
I envy you.
I celebrate with you.
Hug her.
Love her.
You never know how long you'll have her.

To all of you that are Moms,
have a wonderful
Mother's Day weekend.
You've earned it.
You deserve it.

Dear Jill, Happy Mother's Day to you. I am not an envious person, but I too envy those that still have their Moms. I hope that the lilacs comfort you with happy memories of your dear Mom, and that you have a wonderful day! Love, Penny

Oh dear Jill,

Your words to all of us were just lovely and full of love. Thank you so very much!

Your flowers are quite lovely. I found my love of gardening from my Baba who reminded me of Noah, only with plants, two of everything it seemed! Along with his ducks, eating all the bugs!

Jill, I wish you a wonderful Happy Mother's Day filled with love and happiness!

Hugs,
Donna
