You Fooled Me (Again)!

It was late,
dark and calm
as I stood on the deck last night.
I was sure the pine trees
were whispering your name to me.

Foolish me.
Turns out it was Old Man Winter,
not so subtly,
bringing the howling north winds
into what was a lovely, mild January.

Reality has arrived.
The thermometer reads 13 above
but the winds make it feel like
2 below.
And it's not the coldest day of the week.

I will not be help captive.
Errands need to be run.
Then home,
for a nice warm cup of tea.

Will you join me?

We lived in Michigan when my kids were babies. I can remember being stuck in the house with my son because we had a big ice storm and then the temperature didn't get above 30 degrees for two weeks. The roads were like skating rinks.

I'm happy to be in Florida!! Enjoy your outing and your cup of tea!

Be right there it is pouring rain here and very slippery. I just came back from two hours in the bush I am soaked to the bone. That sounds wonderful. I would like hot chocolate if you don't mind. Thanks. B

You're tellin' me! I waited and waited this morning for the wind chill temps to creep above zero before I went out to take care of the critters, but I finally had to concede that was not going to happen so I braved the cold - brrr! So, yes, a nice cup of tea sounds like just the ticket!

There's hardly anything as nice as sitting down for a nice hot cup of tea when it is cold and snowy outside! I quite like the feeling of frozen in winter, so long as I'm prepared for it (and as long as it doesn't last too long!)

If you hurry I will fix you a big glass of iced tea....it's in the 60's and beautiful....BUT weather report says it will be in the 20's tomorrow morning/Ouch!

Wow, Jill. I can't believe you go out to run errands with that temperature. You wouldn't catch me out. Imagine living in 80 degree weathers and then going to 2 below. I would die.
Stay warm and be safe. If you use your heater be careful.

Am I too late? We started the morning out at 70, it is dropping. It is said we will soon be in the 40s. I am longing for cold weather. My brain is telling me I need to hibernate. Hugs. Bonnie
