You're a pretty savvy group so I know you can name a lot of famous pairs. Please indulge me though while I name a few: Lucy and Desi, George and Gracie, Tom and Jerry, Chocolate and Peanut Butter, Lewis and Clark, Salt and Pepper, Bogey and Bacall, Brad and Angelina (yuck) and Laurel and Hardy, just to name a few.
But there is one famous pairing I know you don't know and I'd love to introduce them to you, a little differently this time. They are my kids. So similar in so many ways but SUCH OPPOSITES in so many other ways.
As a refresher, here are their adorable, innocent (?) faces once again:
But there is one famous pairing I know you don't know and I'd love to introduce them to you, a little differently this time. They are my kids. So similar in so many ways but SUCH OPPOSITES in so many other ways.
As a refresher, here are their adorable, innocent (?) faces once again:
TJ
Becky
I fondly call them Felix and Oscar, respectfully.
TJ is my OCD (obsessive compulsive boy).
It's better now but there was a time in his younger years
that it was so bad, he'd drive his sister (and me)
absolutely crazy!
You know how toddlers will move from one activity to another?
Poor little Becky would do so only to come back to what she was doing
a few moments later, to discover her brother had put all of HER things away!
Many, many times a day I'd hear MOMMMMMMY!! and I knew exactly what it meant!
Hence my Felix.
Moving on to Becky, dear sweet Becky.
She's a PIG! ha! My Oscar!
If we ever had a fire, I highly doubt the firefighters
could find her or her bed!
Her messiness drives her brother (and me) nuts!
It honestly does NOT even occur to her to put
something away once she is done using it.
Trust me, I have tried. And tried. AND TRIED!
Let's move on to modulation of voices.
I was quickly reminded of this difference in the two
of them over Thanksgiving.
If I had a penny (yes, even in this economy, a penny)
for every time I said,
TJ, please stop mumbling...I can't hear you!
or
Becky, please stop yelling, I am NOT deaf,
I would be a very rich woman.
Really.
Truly.
I kid you not.
And last but not least.
Let me take you shopping with these too.
Does anyone remember
the old man Tim Conway used to play on The Carol Burnett show?
Remember the way he shuffled along
at a snails pace?
That's my TJ. I feel like
he's at least 90 years old.
I'm sure he touches and or examines each and EVERY SINGLE item in the store.
On the flip side?
Speedy Gonzales Becky.
Hits the door, revs her engine and she's off!
That girl knows what she wants and where it is
and doesn't care if she leaves us in her dust!
And how do I fit in, you ask?
I am neither Felix nor Oscar.
I don't mumble
and I don't yell (much).
I don't creep
and I don't speed.
But I'm Mom
and I gotta keep an eye
on both my special kids.
So if you ever question my sanity,
I take no offense.
I question it all of the time myself!!
My kids.
I LOVE 'EM.
Even though.
=)

Isn't it funny how different our kids can be? I enjoyed reading about yours.
Jill you are too funny.
The definition of a friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you anyway!! That applies to Moms!!
Well said and those are two lucky kids.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Absolutely delightfully delicious precious and perfect. Loved hearing about Felix and Oscar!
Loved it!
You are a special person Jill!
A good lesson in appreciating differences! Those two are polar opposites :-)
Thanks for sharing it is amazing how they are day and night. Have a great week.
How sweet Jill!... they are both adorable and I can tell through your words just how very precious they are to you... xoxo Julie Marie PS Double yuck on Angelina and Brad!
You have two wonderful kids and I'm glad you enjoy/tolerate their differences :-)
You are a great mom!
loved this. getting to know more about your family! and your crazy life!
Oh my goodness Jill - I love this post. And it is so nice that you can share and laugh out loud. They sound wonderful. I worked with special needs kids for 15 years and they are the best.
Ever hear of Sensory Processing Disorder? ADHD - that is what we live with! Whew.
No one knows how difficult, yet rewarding it cam be.
Love,
sandie
Wouldn't life be boring if our kids were exactly the same...I love it that they are their own individual. I know my life would be boring if all my eleven were cut from the same mold...It sure makes life interesting :)
Great kids....and what would we do if they were the same?
You have lovely kids and I bet your wouldn't have then any other way!!
Your post made me smile, oh and I totally agree with your Brad and Angelia comment. :))
You are so sweet Jill. What a great post today. I can tell that you love them very much as I am sure that they love you a whole bunch too.
xo,
Danielle
I enjoyed "meeting" your great kids!
This is a wonderful post about your kiddos!
Awesome post Jill! Wish I could meet you and your kids!
Very nice post Jill. I to have a special needs 20 year old. She is not only obsessive but also impulsive. She is ADHD and talks extremely loud. I took her several times to the ear doctor thinking she was deaf. My oldest has Crohn's disease. She was born 1 lb 14 oz and is my fighter. They are both 2 pigs. I am told all the time especially by my sisters that they cannot believe I am so neat and organized and they are both such slobs. Go figure. But I too love them and would not trade them for the world.
Thanks so much for sharing this post. I am glad I am not the only one out there with these kinds of issues.
Ana
A very fun post about your kids, Jill! It always amazed me that no matter how many kids a person has - they all have different character traits and personalities! :-)
I always have to remind parents that each child is different. Isn't it grand? They are wonderful and they are so fortunate to have a mom like you.
I love the honesty and humor in this Jill. Made me smile and then smile bigger : )
I think I need an OCD kid! I have 3 boys and a husband, and not a neat one in the bunch. How wonderful it would be to have one person clean up after himself!
Sweet looking kids, by the way :)
Great post! Made me smile. :)
You have beautiful children. Don't worry about Becky my girls had the messiest rooms now one is a neat freak and the other one is still messy but an amazing artist. I find children with messy rooms to be the most amazing artists.
I must be nice shopping with your kids I would love that even at slow and fast. Great post Jill. B
Martin and Lewis, Sonny and Cher, Abbot and Costello... oh, I could go on and on. :)
Thanks for sharing about your kids. You are a good mom.
Dear Jill, A beautiful family. Thank you for for introducing your family. It is a blessing to have a family as beautiful as yours. Catherine xo
I love you, Jill! You always make me smile and giggle! I love hearing about your family!
Blessings,
Donna
Sounds like they balance each other out though. My husband has two speeds, "we aren't in any hurry" and, "why aren't you in the car already?!" Lol. I'm sure that you love both your kids and are great with them! : )..
My two kids are polar opposites, too. Differences...make the world go round :)
Hey, I recognized your duo- sweet kids - brad and angelina (yuck) - very funny- I couldn't agree more. I suppose they probably deserve each other. :) You, however, deserve a very merry Christmas I hope it is wonderful!!!
:)!!!
