This, That and...

What a week!
It has certainly had it's challenges
but I've made it.

I wanted to answer a few questions
about my bird pictures.
I only have a point and shoot
with a small zoom lens on it.
I am standing no more
than 18"-24" on these shots.
The chickadees are very
accommodating!

I have never used a heated birdbath before.
A friend has one and educated me on how much
the little critters need water during the winter.
After seeing the way they flock
to my "pet dish" bird bath,
I will definitely be getting one.
We have home improvement stores here
by the name of Menard's.
They carry an insert that you place in your existing bird bath.
You then plug it in and it keeps the water
from freezing.
I have also seen a heated bird bath
that clamps to a deck rail.
This was at a store by the name of Fleet Farm.
For now, I check on the water several times a day
and crack through the ice if it freezes over.

Now,
onto the
BIG,
HUGE,
GIGANTIC,
HUMONGOUS,
am I doing a good job of making you wait?
WINNER
of my very first
blog giveaway...

I bet you're all on the edge of your seat now aren't you?

OK...here it comes...
I promise....
no more teasing you...
or messing around...
it's

Thanks for explaining about the bird bath - I forgot your winters are savage because you're in Minnnesota. Here in London the temperature rarely goes much below freezing

I've never heard of heated birdbaths before. Sounds like a good idea for the winter. Lucky wee birds.

the header sounds like a great idea, but i think i'd put it under something so that the snow doesn't get in it? =)

I thought I was following your blog & I kept looking for updates on my dashboard, then I come back today & see that I'm not... so sorry, but I'm following now! I'm such a scatterbrain! heheheee

Your camera takes great pics, and the chickadees look so cute. : ).. We have a Sony Cybershot that zooms as well, and it's been such a great camera. Glad that you provide the birds something that they need too. It doesnt snow that much here in Missouri (with the exception of 20 inches last year), I can't even imagine how much snow you all get!

How thoughtful of you to think of the wild life. So many don't realize, while they are wild, and they can go and forage for themselves, as we keep building more and more in to their habitat, it's a courteous thing to do!

Congratulations on your milestone and your winner!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Congrats to Sharon!!
I've never used a heated bird bath either. My birdbath is a little too far away from an outdoor plug

I've never used a heated bird bath either, but we have a bird bath that's fairly close to an outdoor plug, so it's a possibility!
