Play Day

Last night, before I drifted off to sleep, I decided today would be my play day.  What is a play day for me, you might ask?  Well, I lock myself in my office and mess with paper, ink and stamps.  I don't get to do if often so relish in it when I can.

I must have been really looking forward to it.  I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 3:30 a.m.  Yes, I am the one that was complaining about the possibility of having to get up at 4:30 a.m. and here I was...up and out of bed before dawn.

Of course, I didn't go down to stamp as I had my regular chores to do, including getting Becky up in a few hours, feeding the animals, etc. etc.  But once Becky got on that bus, I raced to the refrigerator to get my ice water.  And I almost broke my arm.  How you ask?  Here is my new fridge with the new handle:

I've been having a problem with it in the two weeks I've had it.  You see, I grab the handle to open it and it sucks me right into the closed door.  I don't have any official, damaging injuries to show you but I will tell you, certain parts of this ole' body have been sore...alot lately.  Appparently, the seals on my old fridge were shot.

Since I didn't have a serious injury (this time anyway) I bounded down the first flight of the stairs on my way to the office.  I hit the landing and what did I find?  This little darling( I use this term loosely)...

left cat vomit on my entry way rug.  So, I swooped it up and took a detour to the laundry room to wash said rug.

That done, straight to the office I went...gleefully, I might add.  And what to my wondering eyes did appear?   A gift from this lovely (again, I use the term loosely)...

dog poop! On my carpet in MY office!  Argh!  Alright, disposed of that and cleaned the carpet.  It's a conspiracy.  I'm telling you...my pets have a conspiracy against me!

I am happy to report I did get to do some playing.  I had several phone calls but I persevered and got something done.  WooHoo!

Becky arrived home.  We each did our things.  I made supper and we enjoyed a relaxing dinner and caught up on each other's days. All it all, the day had gone pretty well...considering it's start.

That is, until I received a voice mail intended for Becky which was left by her father (my ex).  If you recall, he might grace my children with a call every 4-6 months and hasn't seen them for 3 years.  This is a portion of his message:

"Hi Becky.  This is Dad.  I've been in England for 3 weeks and will be here for another week for a total of 4 weeks..."  Really?  REALLY?  You think she'll be impressed or do you think she might be HURT?

*Sigh*  Tomorrow is a new day.  The conspiracy theory can't be in play two days in a row.  Right?  RIGHT?
