Fare Thee Well (Pt. 2)

A hard frost is expected for tonight.  So yesterday, Becky and  I walked the fields in search of the waning summer gifts.  We have many to share:

To many, merely a weed.
To me, a soft place to land,
if you're a fairy.

A potential wreath of flowers
for ones hair.

The delight of a butterfly
sipping the last, sweet nectar
from the thistle.

One of hundreds of bees
captured in the throws
of the yellow blossoms.

My ride of dreams...
taking me back to a simpler time
and place.
A place of
security and love.
Of summer sun.

Jill, Lovely post---beautiful pictures and such sweet and poetic words. Sad that summer is almost gone--but Fall will bring its own kind of beauty. Frost tonight!!!!! Hard to believe that could be happening in any part of the country. We've still been in the 100+ temps, but a cool front is coming through today and it will be down in the 60's. A welcome change. Have a nice day. Mickie :)

Very nice post! Yes, good-bye to summer and the flowers and the green of it all.

We won't have frost for a while yet, but I see signs of autumn everywhere and the death of summer is inevitable.

Lovely post Jill, particularly like the first picture - 'soft place to land if you are a fairy', that's just great.

I wish I had been with you and Becky! These pictures are all lovely. Where is the old truck? The stories it could tell. I am going to cut all my cosmos blooms tonight. I am afraid the frost would kill them anyway. We might not get frost, but in case we do I am going to be ready. I will cover the geraniums and hope for the best. Keep taking pictures!

Our temperature has really cooled down here in Missouri today. It's almost chilly! I'm so ready for fall, just not ready for winter. Your photos are very good, love the old truck. Have a great day!

Beautiful! While I am ready for some cool weather, I am not ready for frost! I need more of a gradual change of seasons, but unfortunately, that is not the case in my corner of the world.

i love it, a soft place to land if you are a fairy. what a great idea, to see the last sights and smell what might be the last smells of summer.

I love this! It's nice to imagine you & your daughter walking along in search of photo subjects.
The one of the dandelion as a fairy's soft landing spot is really sweet.
And such a cool old truck!

I like all of 'em. We had some dew this morning. The only thing close to wet we've had in months.
