Camping Finale

Our first full day of camping was Ms. Becky's birthday so we did a little site seeing and shopping (typical 18 year old girl).

Some fun sites:

St. Croix River

The River Fairy

Old Barn we fell in love with...

Even the cows were too hot!

Rock formations along the highway.

Another shot of the St. Croix.

Another old barn.

Back at camp and another water run.

The next day, TJ decorated camp for his sister's party.

Awaiting my sister and brother in law,
we readied their table.

They arrived to help Becky celebrate 18!

Compliments of Auntie Val and Uncle Jim

We all settled around the fire for a good visit and
of course, more ghost stories and settled for a good (?) night's sleep.

Half way through the night,
my sister ended up sleeping in their car, due
to the hard ground, bless her heart.

Two thirds of the night we were all awakened
by a very loud screeching in the woods
and then the whoo whoo whoo of an owl.
Not sure if it was an owl making a kill
but it sure was freaky!

Becky found and took a picture of this the next day
down by the river.  I thought it was a bit
poetic.

Due to the threat of severe weather
(I am not that brave)
we broke camp a day early.

It was a good time
but I am confident it will
be our last camping trip.
I never tire of being a mom
but am tired of being a dad too. ha!

Now you don't see cows in the water like that too often!

I want a cupcake. I'm going to look for one now.

Becky will always remember that trip! Looking at the pictures almost (note: almost) made me homesick. Then snow flashed through my mind and I was done with that! It is beautiful along the St Croix though! So nice you had extra company!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BECKY!

Jill, Glad you "survived" the camping trip. A memorable way for your daughter to celebrate her 18 birthday. My daughter and I used to go out to Colorado to shop in Denver, then campout (in the SUV) at Dillon Lake. Each year the shopping took longer and the camping out time got shorter! Both were times we enjoyed together, and many memories were made. Have a great week. Mickie :)

I remember many a Birthday, Anniversary Party at the campgrounds and around the campfire. Becky is so lucky to have you and her brother to decorate. Sweetest thing in the world to see such love among your children/young adults. The FAMLY board is a perfect description of your weekend.
