Walk This Way

At long last, we had a beautiful, sunny, delightful summer day!  I was tempted to wear sunglasses all day, feeling somewhat like a mole person seeing the sun after so long.  We refused to waste the gift we were given so we set out on a walk.  I am not sure who was more excited, Becky, the dog or me.

We are fortunate to live adjacent to a plot of land that is owned by the school district but leased by a farmer.  We love to walk this area.  We never know what we may find as we enter our secret spot:

We take our time and meander along the path which soon gives way to the field, freshly planted with corn.  Slowly, our cares evaporate into the summer air.

Rounding the corner, we can't help being captivated by these old, gnarly trees.

As we peer at this one, we imagine it in it's youth, reaching up and begging the sun to remember it.
Forging on, we were greeted by a medium sized mud hole, run off from the pond which provides us with a symphony of frogs songs each evening.

Being the creators of a fairy garden, it didn't take us long to imagine mermaids swimming in the depths of the pond, occasionally breaking the surface with their tales and splashing us with a light spray of water.

This tree, no doubt is home to the gnomes we see darting around the gardens in the recesses of evenings light.

How can one argue the existence of gnomes when one is so blatantly caught peering back at us.

As the saying goes, all roads lead home and home we went.  It was a magical day.
We wish you some summer magic too!
